IOEC: PROMOTING EURASIAN INTEGRATION ON CIVIL TRACK

Interview at SPIEF 2024
The IOEC sums up its year — open dialogue between authorities, business and society, the large-scale meeting of participants of the World Forum “New Era — New Ways,” Russia in the Civil Twenty (G20), practical initiatives and robust international cooperation.
THE WORLD FORUM “NEW ERA - NEW WAYS”
The International Organisation for Eurasian Cooperation (IOEC) asserted itself as a prominent actor in inter-national relations and integration of Greater Eurasia in 2024. On 19 April, the IOEC held a largescale meeting within the World Forum “New Era — New Ways,” which brought together more than 600 delegates across 33 countries. The participants addressed modern challenges: shaping a multi-polar world, fair economic cooperation, harmonisation of international law, and development of Vladimir Putin’s initiative—the Greater Eurasian Partnership (GEP).

The World Forum’s standing committees and associations have al-ready begun to operate with the aim to develop and implement practical tools for integrating the countries of Greater Eurasia and the Global South. For instance, the Strategic Development Committee on Economic Relations and Business has already united 54 experts from 21 countries, including India, China, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and the African region.
Meeting of the Committee on Scientific and Educational Cooperation
Among the key issues on the working agenda are cross-border settlements, fair-trade exchange, independent rating systems, and assessments of the investment attractiveness of regions. The Committee for Scientific and Educational Cooperation is drafting a common database of researchers in Greater Eurasia and a unified bibliographic data-base of scientific literature.

The Eurasian Lawyers Association, as part of the World Forum, brings together experts from Russia and other countries around the world. The exchange of legal experience helps Association members to mutually enhance expertise and jointly develop initiatives to harmonise the rules of international law.
The Committee for Medicine and Health Cooperation and the Committee for Sports Cooperation will begin their work in early 2025. The most vital initiatives of the World Forum committees are communicated by the IOEC to authorities, integration groupings, and G20 engagement group members.

DEVELOPING INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COOPERATION
The IOEC also hosts the Business Centre, which aims to build new logistics routes and international business infrastructure, to promote new international projects, and to develop cross-investment.

The IOEC opens representative offices in different regions of the world to address local issues and unite the efforts of local authorities and businesses.

In 2024, such offices appeared in Senegal and Algeria. While India, the UAE, Mauritania and Bahrein are in the pipeline. In addition, the IOEC develops relations with NGOs within the GEP. Partners include the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (India), the Brazil-Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Brazil), the National Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Moldova (Moldova), the International NGO Euro Asian Alliance (Georgia), the Institute of International Studies of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (Mongolia), the Ivorian-Rus-sian Chamber of Commerce and Indus-try (Côte d’Ivoire), the World Associa-tion of Entrepreneurs of Eurasia and Africa (UAE) and many others.

CIVIL TWENTY G20
President Dmitry Stasyulis was appointed Sherpa of Russia to the Civil Twenty (C20), G20’s official engagement group, which aims to address and communicate civil society’s position on global issues to G20 leaders. Dmitry Stasyulis joined three working groups: fair, inclusive and antiracist economy; digitalisation and technology; and democratic governance, civic space, anticorruption and access to justice.

In November, Russia’s Sherpa at-tended the G20 Social Summit in Rio de Janeiro to convey the views of Russian society on the reform of global governance and the protection of traditional values. Russia’s stance was actively supported by many countries participating in the Summit. Work on the civil society track will continue in 2025 under the South African Presidency.

***
2024 was a breakthrough year for the IOEC.
We implemented ambitious international initiatives, rallied a team of like-minded people, which keeps expanding with new participants, partners and organisations. Most importantly, we proved that nothing is impossible if the ultimate goal of our work is people, their needs, aspirations, interests and well-being.
