WE MUST BOLSTER THE RESILIENCE OF THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT THAT UNDERPINS TRADE AND ECONOMIC TIES BETWEEN RUSSIA AND THE ISLAMIC WORLD.
Distinguished participants of the Forum, I am pleased to welcome you to the International Economic Forum “Russia — Islamic World: KazanForum.”
Over the years, the Forum has evolved into a permanent dialogue platform where common approaches are forged and concrete steps towards engagement with the Islamic world are developed. It brings together governments, business, the expert community, and academia from our countries. The format of open discussions, thematic sessions, and bilateral talks translates negotiation tracks into practical solutions.
Amid today’s accelerated structural shifts in the global economy, it is more vital than ever to strengthen partnerships rooted in trust, mutual benefit, and respect for cultural diversity. The countries of the Islamic world are playing an increasingly important role in global trade and investment, and our collaboration demonstrates steady growth even amid global turbulence. Nearly a third of Russia’s external trade now accounts for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Russia’s relations with the Islamic world have long been rooted in friendship and are structured through both bilateral and multilateral formats, including the Eurasian Economic Union and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. We are united by a shared commitment to shaping a fair multipolar world order, mutual respect, and regard for each other’s interests.
This year, the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia — Islamic World,” chaired by Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, marks its 20th anniversary. Its successful work over the years has significantly strengthened Russia’s dialogue with Muslim states and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
A special session during the Forum will focus on President Putin’s initiative to establish the Greater Eurasian Partnership, which seeks to create a broad framework for continental interaction aligned with the “integration of integrations” concept, drawing on the potential of regional groups and partner economies based on respect, equality, and balanced interests. Deeper cooperation within Greater Eurasia will deliver long-term benefits for building a just world order and fostering sustainable development across our economies, including within the “Russia– Islamic World” track.
Today, we face ambitious challenges. We must not only preserve our accumulated potential but also enhance the resilience of the business environment that underpins trade and economic ties between Russia and the Islamic world. This means deepening integration, building new international supply chains, expanding preferential trade regimes, fostering investment, aligning regulatory systems, and developing human capital.
I am confident that this Forum will provide fresh momentum for cooperation.
I wish all participants fruitful work, new opportunities for cooperation, and success in your endeavours!
