On August 27–28, 2024, the VI International Municipal BRICS Forum will take place in Moscow at the Expocentre Central Exhibition Complex. This event will bring together representatives of 89 regions of the Russian Federation and over 100 countries around the world. The Forum has been organized with the support of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federation Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Moscow City Duma, and the Government of Moscow. The Department of Foreign Economic and International
Relations in Moscow also supported the event. IMBRICS Forum is one of the most significant events in the field of socio-economic development, building effective business connections, and strengthening cooperation with the BRICS countries and other nations committed to constructive dialogue with Russia.
The International Municipal BRICS Forum is a platform experience and ideas with representatives of regional and municipal governments, as well as to building effective business relationships with entrepreneurs from Russia and other partner countries. The Government of Moscow is the general partner of the forum.
The International Municipal BRICS Forum (IMBRICS) is designed to promote practices and cooperation among interested BRICS members on a wide range of issues related to intermunicipal dialogue. This includes collaboration between regional legislative bodies, with the involvement of the Assembly of BRICS+ capitals and megacities.
In 2022, the IMBRICS Forum was included to the text of the Beijing Declaration of the XIV BRICS Summit (paragraph 70) and it was designated as a significant mechanism for promoting urban development and establishing links between twinning cities of the BRICS countries within the framework of the Sustainable Development Agenda until 2030.
Among the main topics of the event are inter-municipal cooperation, inter-parliamentary collaboration between capitals and cities, the economic development of territories and their investment potential, industry and technology, energy, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, the agro-industrial sector, digital projects and information
technology (IT), transport and logistics, health care, education and research, c ulture, sport, tourism, youth policies, and the pro-motion of entrepreneurship.
